    Can I get a Student loan?

2012 Entry

At present, UK / EU students electing to study with Kaplan Business School will not currently qualify for a student loan from the Student Loans Company (SLC). However, Higher Education funding is currently undergoing its biggest transformation for a number of years. The Government has suggested that UK / EU students beginning their studies in 2012 will be able to secure loans of up to £6,000 if they choose to study at a private provider such as Kaplan Business School. Further details will appear here as they are released.

    What are the tuition fees for KBS?

Full Time

Tuition fees for entry in 2012 are set at £6,000p/a for UK/EU students and £10,500p/a for International students

Part Time

Tuition fees for entry in 2011 are set at £6,000 for the University of London degree and £3,250 for the Liverpool John Moores Degree. These prices are correct if a student was to try and complete their part time degree in 3 years.

    Can I transfer into the second or third year?

Any registered University of London student wishing to take their second year of study can transfer onto a Kaplan Business School programme subject to course selection and previous module progression.

The University of London must assess the transcripts of any student that wishes to transfer onto one of our courses. This is done on a case by case basis. It is possible to transfer onto our second year however please be aware that the modules you have studied to date must be very closely matched to those taught by ourselves in order for you to transfer provider.

At this time Kaplan Business School does not accept third year transfers.

    Why are KBS not on UCAS?

The Universities and Colleges Admissions Service includes only UK universities and partner institutions in its listing. As a result this means that Kaplan Business School is not listed on the UCAS search engine. This means that in addition to your 5 UCAS choices you can also apply to Kaplan Business School directly, increasing the amount of options open to you come results day.

Other benefits include:

  • You will hear from us about whether you have a place or not far quicker than you would via UCAS
  • The application process is simpler with only one form required
  • You can apply to a wider range of subject areas with one application

    When do courses start?

Our courses start in October each year, after a one week Fresher's Week that is designed to get you used to the campus and the surrounding area. The Fresher's Week for 2012 is set to begin on 8 October 2012.

    What is the application deadline?

The application deadline each year is set at 17 September for International students, and 17 October for UK/EU students.

    What are the entry requirements?

At Kaplan Business School we request that students have 260 UCAS points or equivalent. Details as to how this score can be achieved are available here.

    What if I have less than an equivalent of 260 UCAS points?

Students with less than 260 UCAS points are welcome to apply, and may be granted entry via our assessed entry route. This means that we take into account your entire academic record, your potential, your personal statement and we will also ask you in for an interview to find out more about you in person.

Students with extenuating circumstances are welcome to apply if their results are not a true reflection of their academic ability.

    What is your relationship with the University of London?

The University of London are the awarding body for all degrees taught at Kaplan Business School. They are responsible for the syllabus content and progression structure of each qualification. Furthermore they set and mark all exams undertaken as part of each course.

Each University of London course taught at KBS receives academic direction from a Lead College(s) as nominated by the University of London.

Kaplan Business School are responsible for the day-to-day teaching of each syllabus and your exam preparation.

    What does “Lead College” mean?

The Lead College is responsible for designing the syllabus content and structure of each course in addition to having significant input into examinations and marking quality standards.

    What will it say on my degree certificate?

Wording of degree certificates for students studying in the Faculty of Business:

"Having registered with the University of London and passed the approved examinations conducted by The London School of Economics and Political Science has this day been admitted by the University of London to the Degree of Bachelor of Science..."

Wording of degree certificates for students studying in the Faculty of Law

"Having registered with the University of London and passed the approved examinations conducted by the University of London Law Schools has this day been admitted by University of London to the Degree of Bachelor of Laws..."
