Course overview:

The course suits students who enjoy working with numbers and are keen to develop their numerical and problem solving skills. The degree incorporates aspects of economics and mathematics as well as related aspects of management and law such as management accounting and the law of business organisation.

The modules of the BSc Accounting and Finance degree have been specifically selected by us to give you exemptions from professional accounting qualifications, making this the ideal choice for those interested in a career in chartered accounting or any other aspect of finance. These exemptions mean graduates looking to become a chartered accountant can gain their ACCA or CIMA qualifications quickly and enter the workplace soon after graduating.

Teaching and assessment:

Full time teaching (15-20 hours per week). Fully exam based assessment.

Study resources:

Students receive one free core book for every module that they take. They also have full use of the Professional Resource Centre, which contains more core books as well as extended reading, reference books and journals.  Students have access to the VLE, which provides online resources such as electronic copies of all course material and forums for discussion.

Career prospects & further study:

On completion of the course, students wishing to pursue a career as an accountant can progress onto their professional qualifications such as ACCA, CIMA and ACA with Kaplan Financial at any of the 27 locations throughout the UK. Students may take up a range of positions in accounting firms or practices.

With a range of key skills, students who are not looking for a career in accounting may choose to work in an array of roles in other industries.  According to recent research, graduate salaries for those working in the banking and finance sector are among the highest paying at an average of £30,000 per year*.
