Teaching and Learning:
Students receive weekly one hour lectures that deliver core concepts and understanding. These are then supported by at least one seminar each week to consolidate and apply the learning achieved in lectures. Course notes are provided and these are closely linked in to online library and learning facilities.
In addition to the lecture and seminar programme, students receive regular skills-based and exam question focus support sessions to help them study effectively and to prepare for forthcoming exams. Students also received regular academic assessment to monitor progress and identify problems early on so they can be tackled by the academic team. In the latter half of the second semester each year students receive intensive revision courses to help them prepare for the exams ahead.
Course Structure:Each year students sit four modules. This normally comprises a mix of core and non-core modules. Some half modules are available allowing a broader range of subjects to be studied. Optional modules are indicative and do not represent the full range of subjects on offer. Whether a module is run depends on student demand and it is not practice to run a module for less than 10 students. |
